ESPN: NFL games will not be simulcast on ESPN in Canada
ESPN is not simulcasting the NFL’s season opener against the Green Bay Packers on Tuesday.
The network will instead televise a Monday Night Football game on Fox.
The decision comes in response to public outrage over the way the NFL handled a national anthem protest and a week of protests that resulted in three arrests and one death.
The NFL announced the decision on Twitter: “ESPN has decided to not simulcast the 2017 NFL season opener between the Green Backs and the Cleveland Browns.
The decision is not related to the protests that occurred in the United States.”
The league is considering options, including bringing back the first-ever pre-season game, the team said in a statement.
